Africa is calling on investors to consider the funds injected into climate adaptation as strategic for the future. This was the view of dozens of heads of state and government at the second African Climate Summit in Addis Ababa.

For the participants, the continent should not be seen as a victim, but as an investment opportunity. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed declared that it was “time to replace climate aid with climate investment”. African countries, home to over a billion people, have borne the brunt of climate disasters, particularly droughts and floods, which have left millions of people vulnerable.
