1- Training LANEMA agents in bio-fertilizer production and use techniques (Ivory Coast)

In December 2023, the SCEB cooperative in Tiassalé held a practical training session on the production and use of bio-fertilizers. This training course was aimed at staff from LANEMA (Laboratoire National d’essais de qualité de métrologie et d’analyses), in particular from the Quality, Training and R&D Departments.

The “Circular Bioeconomy in Abidjan: from food waste to fork” (Bio DAF) project is a concrete response to the major challenges of bio-waste management and youth employment, among others.

1- Study on the challenges of plastics recovery in Grand-Bassam (Ivory Coast)

With the AUF (Agence Universitaire Francophone and the FRQ (Fonds de recherche du Québec), Dr GBOSSOU has been coordinating research into plastic waste management in Grand Bassam since 2019.

2- Co-leadership of an agroecological center with the Marie Esther Foundation (Ivory Coast)

Since April 2022, EXPADD (Experts d’Afrique pour le Développement Durable) and the Marie Esther Foundation have agreed to sign a partnership agreement to carry out several activities linked to the operation of an agroecological center. In concrete terms, the purpose of this agreement is to establish the main bases for cooperation between EXPADD and the Marie Esther Foundation and to highlight the conditions under which future partners will be required to cooperate in fundamental areas of common interest, in particular concerning raising awareness, seeking funding and deploying concrete actions on the ground in support of the creation of the Agroecological Center.

1- Production of a documentary film and an
atlas on sustainable development in Africa

In its desire to raise awareness of all stakeholders in the life of the territories of Africa, EXPADD has launched a few months ago simultaneously two ambitious projects: (1) the production of a documentary film and (2) the production of an atlas on sustainable development in Africa.

2- Diagnostic and prospective study of activities of nurserymen in Côte d’Ivoire

The objective of the project, sponsored by TECHNOSERVE (American NGO), is to facilitate the consolidation of the transformation process of the beneficiary cooperative societies into real sustainable, prosperous and successful small and medium enterprises (SMEs). These cooperatives will have to integrate agroforestry as a priority agricultural service based on successful nursery entrepreneurs.

Study on biochar production in Côte d’Ivoire

The project, funded by the Ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie du Québec (MRIF), is carried out through a partnership between EXPADD, the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR), and McGill University.

The objective of this project is to strengthen the capacities of about fifty women in Bloléquin, Côte d’Ivoire, in the artisanal process of transforming empty cocoa pods (waste) into biochar.
