The event was chaired by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, in the presence of the Minister of the Environment, Sanitation and Sustainable Development, several members of the government, representatives of international institutions, ambassadors and the National Coordinator of the Degraded Land Restoration Project (PRTD-Mali).

This 2025 campaign, strongly supported by the PRTD, symbolizes Mali’s commitment to ecological restoration. Over 30,000 seedlings (gum, moringa, karite and baobab trees) have been planted today, along with irrigation, catchment and drainage systems. These efforts are part of a wider dynamic supported by the PRTD, with over 26,900 hectares already reforested, 13,000 direct jobs created, and thousands of beneficiaries in rural areas.

Through an awareness-raising sketch presented at the ceremony, national opinion was drawn to the urgent need to preserve our environment, restore degraded land and protect our biodiversity. These plantations are not symbolic: they will be monitored and maintained, and will contribute to building Mali’s ecological resilience.

This Saturday, July 26, 2025, the Parc des Sofas, located in the Dogodouman district of Bamako, hosted the official launch ceremony of the 31st edition of the national reforestation campaign. | PRTD-MALI
