The circular economy is gradually establishing itself in Africa as a lever for sustainable development, generating new craft trades. This dynamic offers employment opportunities while meeting the continent’s environmental challenges.
According to an ILO report from 2023, seven to eight million new jobs could be created in the circular economy, where all forms of waste, such as clothing, scrap metal and obsolete electronics, are reused, recycled and refurbished. Job creation also means adapting skills. In Africa, several initiatives have been launched in recent years to address this issue.
