Globally, air pollution caused 6.67 million deaths in 2019, including 1.1 million in Africa. It was this finding that encouraged researchers at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory to conduct research on air pollution levels in Lomé. The study report shows worrying levels of pollution in the Togolese capital.
