The country is making progress in its transition to renewable energy, but the final stretch to reach the 100% mark by 2030 could be the most challenging. In 2018, Kenya set itself the goal of being 100% powered by renewables by 2020 – a target that was later pushed back to 2030. The country has made great strides towards this goal, with renewables now accounting for 90% of its electricity consumption1compared with 50% in 2000.
