COP30″ refers to the 30th International Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). This COP follows on from COP 28 ( DUbai 2023) and COP 29 ( Baku, 2024).

Date and venue of COP30

COP30 will take place from November 10 to 21, 2025 in Belém, capital of the northern Brazilian state of Para.

This city of almost 1.5 million inhabitants lies on the estuary of the Tocantins and Pará rivers, at the gateway to the Amazon rainforest.

Context

Brazil, a major oil-producing country

Brazil is the world’s 8th-largest oil producer (with 3.4 Mb/d by 2024), the largest in Latin America, and plans to increase production even further in the future (like the two previous COP hosts).
