CS4RRA “Climate Services for Risk Reduction in West Africa” was launched in 2023 by European countries in collaboration with West African institutions, including ACMAD, AGRHYMET / CILSS, WASCAL, African centers of excellence and African funding councils. The aim of this initiative is to improve climate resilience through knowledge, innovation and capacity building, building on the achievements of previous European Union (EU) and African Union (AU) programs.
Funding organizations participating in the call come from Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, France, Germany, Ghana, Italy and Norway. Other European countries have expressed interest in participating and may do so at a later date. Eligible for funding are organizations from countries represented in the Group of Parties to the Funding Agreement (GFP) and organizations located in one of the following 16 West African countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
