It is of great interest and crucial to remember that drought exacerbates soil degradation soils and that climate change will exacerbate drought. That the reduction in carbon storage in soils contributes to global warming is a matter of concern.
We all know that large quantities of agricultural, municipal and forestry waste are currently burned or left to decompose after harvesting, releasing greenhouse gases. My contribution is to share with you my long and rich experience on the benefits of using biochar (a kind of ecological carbon), called “the third green revolution”, in different climates, soil types and crops. This ecological carbon is one of the most promising strategies for restoring carbon to depleted soils, while sequestering significant quantities of CO2 over the long term.COP21 was a high point in demonstrating that agriculture can be an effective lever in the fight against global warming, and that biochar is a solution for the future.
