The 2nd African Climate Summit, held in Ethiopia in September 2025, brought together over 25,000 participants: presidents, ministers, farmers, activists, business leaders and students. All came to discuss how Africa can find funding to develop in a greener way and cope with worsening climate disasters. The continent, which contributes very little to global greenhouse gas emissions, is nevertheless bearing the full brunt of global warming. At the same time, it has insufficient funds to adapt to global warming. Here, I examine the three major projects unveiled at the summit, and what’s needed to make them a reality.
