The Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment (SESA) of the mining sector in Burkina Faso is being validated this April 3, 2025, at a national workshop. Carried out by the Direction générale de la préservation de l’environnement in partnership with the projet d’appui au renforcement de la gestion du foncier et des mines, this assessment highlights an analysis of the environmental and social impacts of the mining sector, and proposes an environmental and social management framework plan structured around eight axes. At this workshop, participants from the environment and mining sectors will assess the assessment report and put forward recommendations for mining operations that respect the environment and contribute to sustainable development.
