After decades of predation of its natural resources by foreign powers, Africa wants to create a coalition of nations exploiting strategic minerals essential to the energy transition, according to a draft declaration published after a regional climate summit. Africa possesses immense mineral wealth, particularly in strategic metals, over which China exerts a strong domination that other countries, notably in the West, are seeking to free themselves from by prospecting on the African continent.
