A jewel of biodiversity, the Alibori Sup\u00e9rieur classified forest, located in northern Benin, is one of the largest in the country, covering some 256,000 hectares or around 358,543 soccer fields. It extends over several communes, namely Gogounou, Kandi, Banikoara, P\u00e9hunco, K\u00e9rou and Sinend\u00e9. Unfortunately, it is subject to numerous pressures that threaten its ecosystem and biodiversity. <\/p>\n

Like this stretch of forest, most of Benin’s forests are in the same situation. This is the reason behind the Projet For\u00eats Class\u00e9es (PFC) initiative, which is reforesting several classified forests to protect biodiversity, strengthen climate resilience and also promote cohabitation with humans, by limiting pressures linked to population growth and destructive human activities. <\/p>\n
