While the country’s booming oil production is hampered by the security situation and tensions with Nigeria, the country, led by General Abdourahamane Tiani, has to deal with a severe fuel shortage.<\/p>\n

Being an oil producer doesn’t protect you from fuel shortages. While many African countries are aware of this, Niger, which began producing black gold via its national company, Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 nig\u00e9rienne des produits p\u00e9troliers (Sonidep), in June, is in the process of gaining bitter experience. <\/p>\n
